The Ecosystems, Sustainability, & Justice (ESJ) major at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) empowers students to actively utilize their creative practice to make a more just and sustainable world. Environmental and social justice are inextricably intertwined; ESJ students study environmental problems and inequality together as they manifest locally and in a global context. This conversation will explore the interdisciplinary model for the new major at the intersection of liberal arts, sciences, arts, and design studies.
